Description:
Perennial climbing plant 5-8 m long. The wrinkled plants climb clockwise. Leaves are opposite, heart-shaped or lobed palm-like, wrinkled. Flowers are unisex, male flowers develop in a panicle, women parts flower in bracts which look like oval globes, suspended downwards and yellow-green colour. Internal shell surface has yellowish to reddish gland like shapes which gives the hop its bitter taste.
